Clown #93 "Stan Laurel" Clown #94 "Oliver Hardy"
acrylic on paper,
2 ½” x 3 ½” (64 x 89 mm), 2019
Here it is a homage to "Laurel & Hardy", ACEO miniature portraits #93 & #94. Stan Laurel (1890–1965) and American Oliver Hardy (1892–1957). It was a suggestion for me to paint them by a clown friend, as I agree with him, in a way, they were clowns performing incredible slapstick comedy. The couple became well known during the late 1920s to the mid-1940s, later on they became timeless comedy classic duo. When I was growing up in the 70's, the TV had only one channel and it was B&W. All the family used to watch Laurel & Hardy movies and having lots of laughs. I am am sure If you watch those funny movies, you remember now their opening song "The Dance of the Cuckoos" in your head. If not go check this link on YouTube :)
