SOLD

ACEO clown portrait #116 is inspired by "Clown  Edouardissimo" (Edouard Neumann) from Russia. His father took him on stage for the first time at age of five  but then became more interested in wrestling and boxing. At twelve, a friend took him to the pantomime theater of Penza and he loved it. He mastered his craft for four years at the Kiev Circus School in Ukraine.  With Sergej Maslennikow, he toured as a duo "KGB clowns" (an abbreviation for "art of gesture and movement") quite successfully around the world. At the moment he is performing at the famous Roncalli Circus. I watches his clips on YouTube, here is the link.

ACEO Clown Portrait #114 "Gensi"

Clown #114 "Gensi"
acrylic on paper,
2 ½” x 3 ½” (64 x 89 mm), 2019

ACEO clown portrait #114 is inspired by a very unique white face clown "Gensi" aka Fulgenci Mestres Bertran from Spain. Gensi studied dramatic art at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona and graduated in the Superior Conservatory of Music of the Liceu in interpretation of singing and violin. He has been clowning since 1996. In 2005 he started to work at famous Circus Roncalli with the role of the white clown who acts as a counterpart to Augustus, played by David Larible (He is on my painting list). According to Mestres, his task is not to "make people laugh", but to bring poetry to the track of the circus. I watched a YouTube clip of his act at Circus Roncalli, it's really good. See this link. Also you can follow his instagram at @gensiclown  to find out more about him.

ACEO Clown Portrait #113 "Carillon"

Clown #113 " Carillon"
acrylic on paper,
2 ½” x 3 ½” (64 x 89 mm), 2019

ACEO clown portrait #113 is inspired by "Carillon", a Victorian clown personified by Paolo Casanova from Italy. Paolo since his childhood wanted to become a clown in a circus. Before becoming a professional clown, he used to work as a model car designer for a well known Italian company in Turin. But he made his choice and quit his day job and started to work as clown. His dream came true, now he is performing at one of the best circuses in the world, "Circus Roncaldi". Carillon doesn't talk in his act. He is a poetic, shy and a very curious kind of a clown. He creates all his steampunk toys and machines.  Oh! Also he is great with bubbles. You must watch his trailer video on YouTube. Also check his instagram at @paolocarillon.
