Clown #103 "Cha-U-Kao"
acrylic on paper,
2 ½” x 3 ½” (64 x 89 mm), 2019
ACEO Clown #103 is a homage to a french clown called "Cha-U-Kao" who used to perform at the Moulin Rouge and the Nouveau Cirque in the 1890s. She was the muse of the famous french painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. The artist was fascinated by this woman who dared to choose the classic male profession of clowning. There are a few paintings of her by Lautrec . I created this tiny portrait looking at these paintings imagining a little bit that she might have a look like that. Enjoy it!
