ACEO Clown #143 "Mungo the Clown /Smilemaker"
acrylic on paper,
2 ½” x 3 ½” (64 x 89 mm), 2019
ACEO clown portrait #143 is inspired by a sweet and wonderful clown "Mungo the Clown /Smilemaker" aka Mark Hurlin Shelton from Cape Town, South Africa. Mungo is performing about 28 years as a professional clown, making children laugh and smile, as a magician, juggler and balloon artist in kids birthdays. He began his evolution into clowning whilst backpacking Europe, back in the 1980s and was inspired by the street clowns that he watched at the Avignon festival, and from then on, knew exactly what he wanted to do with the rest of his life. Mungo received Circus training under Keith Anderson during the nineties where he learned Trapeze, Stilts, Trampoline etc and he has also taught himself a unicycle, but prefers to clown around with his feet on the ground.
